Media Release: Spirit of the Territory captured in artesian water campaign

A national advertising campaign for Australia’s newest bottled water literally transports the subject to the spiritual heartland of the outback. 

Produced by Monster and Bear of Melbourne for NT Beverages, the Akuna Blue television commercial features the company’s own Product Manager; Darwin local Amanda Pernechele, who is whisked away from the city streets of Melbourne after tasting the fresh sparkling waters of Akuna Blue and finds herself in a “dream world” of ancient rocks, desert sands and an oasis-like waterfall. 

“The commercial captures the true essence of the Akuna Blue brand,” said Ms Pernechele. 

“As a Northern Territory product, we wanted to reflect the Territory’s pristine environment, stunning scenery and spiritual landscapes, and appeal to a consumer looking for a revitalising experience, one which will transport them and make them feel refreshed.” 

Shot against an iconic central Australian backdrop of Standley Chasm, Simpsons Gap, Ellery Creek and The Ghan, the 30 second television commercial relies not only upon the creative genius of its producers but also the skills and advanced technology of Flying Dragon Aerial for many of its breathtaking drone shots high above the ancient chasms as Amanda’s character wanders through the landscape in another Territory icon; beautiful Paspaley Pearls, and wears a silk gown by local Territory designer Sarina Cowcher

“We absolutely loved making this commercial, it was so special to travel to Alice Springs and visit these locations. We have watched this product develop right from the start and to be included in the creative which will promote it to a national, and ultimately international audience, is a privilege.” 

“We aim to leave a memorable and emotional connection between the consumer and the brand so that it generates customer loyalty and influences purchasing decisions not just in the Territory, but across the country,” Ms Pernechele added. 

The Akuna Blue television commercial is supported by a fully integrated campaign across print, ambient and social media for all of the NT Beverages brands, including major airport terminals and Darwin buses. 

The commercial will make its first appearance on the NT Beverages YouTube channel and the official Akuna Blue Website ( on Wednesday, the 29th of June, including national airports across South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria, and shortly thereafter on Television in the NT and other parts of Australia. 

NT Beverages Limited is a public, unlisted company founded and based in the Northern Territory. The pure artesian water is drawn from the ancient South Alligator Dolostone aquifer located in Acacia Hills, 50km from Darwin. 

The naturally abundant artesian water has incredible health benefits with high alkalinity to balance the body’s PH level and aid digestion, low sodium for heart health and 50% of the daily recommended silica content for healthy hair, skin and nails. The low sodium content isn’t only good news for heart health but also does not overpower one’s palate when dining out. 

NT Beverages’ AKUNA BLUE TM and AKUNA SPRINGS TM will soon be available at Woolworths and selected stores, cafes and restaurants across the NT, to be followed by a nationwide release.
